NOTES ON BUILDING
FROM A BUILDER
Missteps and Misunderstandings
Accusations couched in lies
Resulting in confusion
To ensure Our Separation
Thus We begin
Tearing down Our Edifices
Not from Without
But from Within
So that Now
Not even Our Foundations
Will Survive
Our Problem
Is in Our Forgetting
Simple Truths
About Ourselves
About Our Lives
You cannot Build
For future Generations
Without solid Foundations
You cannot defuse The Cornerstones
And expect to continue To Rise
Faith, Family, Community
These are Not relative notions
To be tinkered with endlessly
And marred by opinionated debates
These are the very Foundations
Which got Us to Here
Yet We forget and forsake Them
And We try to Build further
By weakening and removing Them
In inanity
We seek to Build higher floors
By removing and repurposing
The Bricks from lower floors
A Journey
Is not thousands of disconnected steps
Nor is A Tower
Just a bunch of floating floors
See, Our Society
Is actually A Pyramid
Built upon the True solidity
Of Our Ideals and Ideas
Cemented long long Before
